Countdown to the Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC)
The UK Government, in conjunction with the Scottish Government, plans to issue a detailed consultation on the CRC draft regulations this Autumn. In early 2009, all organisations and companies affected by the scheme will be contacted and given a registration pack. They will then have to provide information on their 2008 electricity consumption.
The Countdown to the Carbon Reduction Commitment conference, which takes place on 21st November in Edinburgh, brings together experts in the field to assist affected organisations with everything they need to know about the CRC scheme.
The conference will include expert sessions on:
- Monitoring and reporting your energy consumption for the purpose of compliance;
- How the carbon auction and performance league table will operate;
- The financial implications for your organisation or company of compliance and non-compliance of the scheme;
- What the energy companies are doing to support you in monitoring and reducing consumption;
- And on how to formulate a long-term strategy of compliance and best performance as part of the CRC scheme.
Caroline Doble, Climate Change Consulting Group Manager, will speak in the financials slot 'Following the money: the finances of CRC', taking place at 11.15, and will participate in the panel discussion which will take place at the end of the conference.
Enviros has produced a detailed briefing note on the CRC which will help you understand the details of the scheme. This note will be updated when the consultation is published.
