Enviros Works on 'Building Schools for the Future' Programme

Enviros has designed a remedial scheme to prepare a former landfill in Tameside for redevelopment in the Tameside Building Schools for the Future programme.

In February 2009, Enviros designed a remedial scheme for a domestic waste landfill and colliery located in East Manchester. Remediation of the land will allow project partners, Carillion Construction, to build a 21st Century Academy School on the unused land.  Work on the flagship school is due to start in April 2009 and the school will open in 2010.  The academy will be one of eleven new schools in Tameside, Greater Manchester, built under the ambitious Building Schools for Future (BSF) Programme.  All the new schools have inspirational levels of design, building sustainability and ICT.

We are also investigating shallow mine workings and other environmental issues at three other BSF schemes in Tameside.  Enviros and Carillion are collaborating closely on other BSF bids to identify where we use our experience in recycling, low carbon technologies and regeneration to build upon Carillion's track record in sustainable procurement, waste minimisation, and on-site renewable energy.
