Enviros presents at Carbon Reduction Commitment Seminar

Ray Gluckman, Enviros National Product Director for Climate Change, is presenting at the CRC seminar; Complying with the CRC: Reducing energy use in buildings.
The event takes place on Tuesday, 15 September at Londons Mayfair Conference Centre and aims to help organisations understand how they will be affected by the CRC. Read the full conference programme here.
Rays presentation takes place at 10am and is entitled Implementing the CRC in Practice, using two worked examples. The session covers:
- Anticipating how the theory of the CRC may compare to the reality of it for businesses
- Forecasting the impact of the CRC a working example using a small scale single-site organisation and a large multi-site organisation
- Establishing what energy use data is collected
- Measuring energy use and emissions
- Calculating what the scheme will cost organisations
- How reducing the carbon footprint will improve league table performance
- What challenges can the construction industry help to solve?
- Assessing the implications of the CRC and identifying ways to maximise the benefits
The conference itself aims to:
- Understand how the CRC will affect organisations in practice
- Find out where the opportunities are for construction to work with clients on the CRC
- Clarify the impact the CRC will have on local authorities
- Explore quick wins in reducing energy use in retail
- Discover low cost solutions for preparing for the CRC in offices.
The Carbon Reduction Commitment is mandatory and will affect thousands of large companies from April 2010. Read the Enviros briefing note here, which provides an overview of the legislation. In October, Enviros will be hosting free breakfast seminars on the subject in Glasgow and London.
