How the Carbon Counter tool can help

The Carbon Counter tool provides everything a company needs to:

  • Assess whether they qualify for the scheme
  • Guide companies through the regulations
  • Capture the data a company needs
  • Record an organisations company structure in a CRC-ready format
  • Provide the correct information disclosure or registration details to the Environment Agency
  • Provide straightforward support to remote users for recording energy sources an meter reading
  • Generate the CRC mandatory footprint and annual reports ready for submission
  • Retain regular snapshots of data to provide the evidence pack for CRC audit purposes and enable tracking of progress every year.

About the CRC
The CRC is a mandatory emissions trading scheme that aims to deliver energy (and so carbon) savings in large organisations. The scheme is will start on 1 April 2010 and the introductory phase will run until March 2013. The scheme will affect all organisations that had at least one meter settled on the half-hourly market and whose total annual electricity
supplies through half-hourly meters (HHM) exceeded 6,000MWh in calendar year 2008.
This could include supermarkets, hotel chains, large offices and small industrial facilities in the private sector. Parts of the public sector will also be captured e.g. local authorities (including state-funded schools within their portfolio in GB), all central government departments, hospitals and universities.
