Landfill Gas Case Studies: Red Moss
At Red Moss in Bolton, the Greater Manchester Waste Disposal Authority (GMWDA) appointed Enviros to carry out an assessment of risk to adjacent proposed development from their former landfill, including the effects of restoration with available silts and peats.
The Council accepted the report, which identified the need for additional protective measures, resulting in the following work being commisioned from Enviros:
- design and supervision of a pumped landfill gas extraction and monitoring system to control the risk identified
- evaluation of the potential for gas utilisation
- preparation, management and commissioning of a performance contract for a 500 KVa generator
This work continued over 20 years of commissions at this site.
